For those who like the lace up look in a more practical form...
"Two star-crossed lovers ensnared in a triangle, Tristan and Isolde were bound together by a love potion gone wrong. These cable crossed socks require no potions to make you love them. They are sturdy, warm and look good in every color, and are equally handsome for both men and women. "

This pattern looks really nice in dark colors. Too bad my stash has mostly bright self-striping yarn. I think I need to get some semi-solids. (Any excuse to buy more yarn - right?!!)

I think I might have to pre-order the book. Every pattern has been fantastic.
