I ran off to Portland, OR this morning to spend a day at the TKGA show! I met several awesome people there, including Katrina and Lise, two of my delightful test knitters. LIse brought me a present; her sock that she's test knitting, so I could see the progress! I must say, LIse is a beautiful knitter!
Chrissy showed me a proof copy of her new book!!!! And, boy, does it look terrific! It will be coming out right around the time of Sock Summit, so keep your eyes peeled. And for all of you lucky summiters, I'm sure she'll be signing copies there.
And, of course, what would a show be without a little bit of loot? I came away with two lucky bundles. The first was some ultra fine merino/silk roving from Red Fish Dyeworks. Boy are these luscious, if only you had feel-a-vision... but then I'd worry about sticky fingers finding their way into my spinning basket... heheheh. There are 4 ounces of each of these colors and I plan to spin them both very fine and ply them together.
And I also got this beautiful skein of superwash BFL (bluefaced leicester wool) sock yarn. I'm starting to find more and more BFL sock yarn out there and I really love it. It has a different feel from the merino that you may be used to. I recommend you try out some BFL and see how you like it!
Lastly, I rounded out my day by visiting the Handknit Heroes booth and trying on their hero goggles. I think they look pretty swell. So I bought myself a little kit to make myself some of these. I think they're just the ticket when you're stuck doing laundry, or when you have to save the world from moths, or in case someone is trying to steal your Red Fish Dyeworks fiber!
Friday's winner of the comment contest is: Tempe! Tempe, you win a copy of the Tintagel pattern.
